Bike of the Month I'm Pam Huggins, co-owner with my husband Jeff, of Biker Rags - a motorcycle clothing and accessory store in Knoxville, TN. We are both long time collectors of Vintage Motorcycles- and are very fortunate that we have our store to show and display our motorcycle collection. The bike that I have chosen for the Bike of the Month is the latest addition to our Vintage Collection - a 1976 Harley Davidson FXE. I have always ridden my own bikes - and have ridden vintage since we started our collection back in the early 90's. I have to admit though that riding vintage can be a real challenge for me. The actual riding of the bike is not the problem - but having to kick start a bike - and wondering if it is going to stall at a stoplight can be quite a struggle. So for years - we have been looking for the perfect vintage bike for me. A bike that starts easily with the push of a button - a bike that is reliable - and a bike that has a low enough seat height for me to be comfortable. Well - this electric start, custom Harley has been a good fit so far. The bike is a 1976 FXE custom, with a Wide Glide front end. It has both kick and electric start - and the engine was rebuilt in Knoxville by Custom Cycle Corner. The brakes have been upgraded - and new wheels and tires added for reliability. We changed the handlebars to fit me a little better and we added our signature white grips. The black paint is nice - but we are planning to tear it down and have David Hurst do his magic with a black and orange metal flake design. Thank you for letting me contribute to the Bike of the Month. We hope
you enjoy the photos and story.
